Castello di Gabbiano

The visitor immediately senses an aura of protection from these ancient walls, along with the warmth of the light that streams through the vast windows along the sides of the little cloister and pervades the broad corridor that runs along the entire perimeter.

The perception of solidity, yet at the same time lightness, that such an ancient structure can impart, fills the observer with wonder. This is in no small part due to its restoration, which succeeded in combining modernity and history in perfect harmony.

For centuries a private residence, home to the important families who took over the property, today the castle is open to the public, offering accommodation in its bedrooms, and in apartments created by restoring the farmhouses of the estate, boasting more than 100 hectares of vines, olive groves and woods.  Its fortunate position, lying between Florence and Siena, makes it a perfect base for excursions throughout Tuscany.

"Il Cavaliere" ("the knight") is the name of the restaurant of Castello di Gabbiano, located in a 16th century farmhouse, at the summit of a hill in a very evocative position, offering a very welcoming environment. On fine summer days, guests can dine outside, shaded and well ventilated, surrounded by greenery and flowers, with a stunning view of the vineyards and olive trees.

Castello di gabbiano features a wide and beautiful swimming pool, and offers amazing cooking courses in the kitchen of Il Cavaliere restaurant. The farm produces IGT Supertuscan wines Alleanza and Gavius, Chianti Classico and Chianti Classico Bellezza, rose', traminer white wine and extra-virgin olive oil.
